BARKHAMSTED – An accident involving a car that went into the Farmington River has left one man dead, according to State Police. A dog who was in the car at the time of the crash is expected to recover.
The call came in around 1 p.m.
The car hit wire rope guardrails, then trees before falling down the embankment. The incident happened on West River Road south of Route 20.
The victim has been identified as Kenneth Gibb, 46, of Barkhamsted.
Mutual aid was called in from area fire departments, and LifeStar was called to the scene.
