GLASTONBURY —  A fire destroyed a home on Foote Road early Sunday morning.

The two women who live at the house escaped, but some pets remain unaccounted for. The house was demolished after firefighters determined that it was structurally unsound.

The fire was reported shortly after midnight – the residents were alerted to the situation because of their smoke detectors.

There are no fire hydrants in this neighborhood so Glastonbury Firefighters had to call area town departments for water trucks.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries after falling on ice.

This is the second fire to destroy a home in Glastonbury in 24 hours. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
