NEWINGTON – Police in two towns have a suspect in a series of over a dozen storage unit burglaries.

Police in Newington said Sunday, Jan. 18, a resident of an apartment complex discovered someone breaking in to storage units at Stonegate and Colonial Manor apartment complexes on Willard Avenue.   Police said the resident described the suspect as a dark skinned black male with a shaved head, wearing blue jeans and a dark colored sweater who fled in a dark maroon sedan, possibly a Chrysler Sebring.

Police said approximately sixteen storage units were burglarized.

Later that same night, Windsor Police apprehended a suspect in a storage unit burglary and took him into custody.  Newington police said the physical features of that suspect matched the description of the suspect in the Newington burglaries and when interviewed the suspect who confessed to his involvement in the Newington burglaries.

James Epps, 47, of Hartford was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Larceny 4th degree, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglar’s tools and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4th degree.  Epps appeared in court on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
