VERNON – Police arrested a 19-year-old man on sexual assault charges stemming from an incident last year.

Police arrested Kyle Bjorklund, 19, and charged him in connection with a sexual assault which was reported to police in November 2014. Police said the victim was a female over the age of 16. Police said Bjorklund is believed to have met the victim at a party and he brought her back to his home where the assault occurred. The victim was treated and released at the hospital.

Police said Bjorklund was held on a $75,000 bond and arraigned in Rockville Superior Court Wednesday. He was charged with sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and false statement.

Police also arrested Lance Trovato, 27, on Tuesday and charged him with destroying evidence, hindering prosecution and interfering with police.  Police said Trovato assisted a juvenile witness in destroying a piece of evidence to prevent police from obtaining it and allegedly destroyed this evidence after he knew police were looking to seize it. Trovato is scheduled to appear in Rockville Court on February 3.

Police said the juvenile was also issued a juvenile summons for her involvement in destroying the evidence.
