HARTFORD – Hartford Police have identified the city’s first homicide of the year.
Police said Michael Leon, 46 of Hartford died after being shot at 692 Garden Street just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
When they arrived they found Leon lying on the street with a gunshot wound to the head, he was pronounced dead on scene.
Crime scene detectives and homicide detectives were on scene all night gathering evidence.
They had the street blocked off for hours.
Police say it’s too early in the investigation to know exactly what happened but they are asking for witnesses to come forward and help them solve this crime.
“We’re asking anyone with information to please call HPD, any witnesses and anyone with information we’d like them to call us,” said Deputy Chief Foley.
