Hartford Police investigate possible homicide, arrest made

Police Officer In Gun Discharge Incident Has Troubling History

HARTFORD — A man is dead after an assault late Saturday night.

Police responded to 80 Pope Park Highway shortly after 11:30 p.m. Once they arrived, officers discovered a man that was unresponsive in the roadway suffering from trauma to various parts of his body.

They also located two unoccupied vehicles.

E.M.S personnel pronounced the victim dead shortly before midnight.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was struck by one of the vehicles on scene. Major Crimes detectives have located and are interviewing a person of interest.

Police have arrested Jayson Mota-Royaceli, 24, of Hartford. Mot-Royaceli has been charged with Manslaughter and placed on a million dollars bond.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
