WATERBURY- The driver who struck two teens and left the scene remains on the loose nearly a month after the January 17 crash in Waterbury.
The teen couple was hit by the car, carried on its hood and then sent falling to the ground, leaving both with serious injuries.
The boy, 18-year-old Jerry Goodman Jr, suffered a shattered femur. His girlfriend, 16-year-old Dileydy Mota, suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries.
"It's so frustrating. It's like, why would you do that? I understand maybe you were going too fast beforehand or you panicked beforehand, but you could have stopped after," said Goodman Jr.
Both are out of the hospital now but face a long road ahead of them. Their families are pleading for the driver to turn himself in to police.
Meanwhile, the families are holding a fundraiser on Monday February 16 at Amafi's restaurant on Wolcott St. in Waterbury. They are offering a ziti dinner for $10 with proceeds going toward both teens' medical bills.
