Serious crash in Wallingford sends several people to the hospital

WALLINGFORD — I-91 Northbound was closed for several hours between exits 14 and 15 because of a serious car crash.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Several vehicles were involved in the crash.

The first vehicle was disabled in the roadway as the result of a previous crash, when the second vehicle struck it in the rear.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene and1-91 was shut down for approximately 6 hours.

At the time of the crash, the road was paved and dry, traffic was light, and the weather was cloudy and dark.

According to State Police, all occupants of both vehicles were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for the treatment of injuries ranging from complaints of pain to serious head and spinal injuries.
