DETROIT, MICHIGAN- Another day, another new food craze. We’ve seen a lot of innovative creations lately (wine ice cream anyone?) and some not, so exciting creations (KFC double down– we are looking at you). This one, we will leave you to decide. Bacon wrapped pizza crust at Little Caesars is now a thing. Pizza +bacon = love.
Little Caesars, the third largest pizza chain in the United States, announced yesterday that they are giving the public what they want. Bacon, wrapped around the crust of a pizza. Specifically, 3 1/2 feet of glorious bacon wrapped around a pizza crust.
In an interview with USA Today, David Scrivano, CEO at Little Caesars says, “Every time you take a bite out of the crust, you’ll get bacon.” The pizza also comes with pepperoni and has bacon sprinkled on top. The new dish will roll out nationally on Feb. 23, priced at $12, the Bacon Wrapped Crust Deep! Deep! Dish Pizza will be one of the most expensive pizzas on the menu.
The price is not that only thing that is large, take a look a the nutritional information, a single slice weighs in at 450 calories; 23 grams of fat; 830 milligrams of sodium and 40 milligrams of cholesterol. “You can always get a plain, cheese pizza or a veggie pizza,” points out Scrivano. “This is a more indulgent offering for a demographic that craves premium quality.”
The limited time offer replaces the chain’s Soft Pretzel Crust Pizza.
