ENFIELD– The temperatures were below freezing Thursday morning, but that didn’t make people avoid a special event in Enfield.

Chick-Fil-A held a grand opening contest, offering the first 100 people in line when the store opened free meals for a year.

It officially opened at 6 a.m. Thursday.

The event, called the First 100, gives a digital offer card with a one-year supply of Chick-fil-A meals to the first 100 eligible adults, 18 and older with valid identification, in line when the doors opened.  The line, however, opened at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The temperature was about 20°F around 3 a.m. Thursday as people were camped out.

Many people brought tents, bundled up in blankets and said they enjoyed the wait for the reward.
