NORTH HAVEN – Police arrested a man after a series of crimes including, a robbery, a home invasion, a car crash, chases, and a failed car theft.

Police said they arrested Rashonne Anderson, 32 of West Haven, on Thursday.

The chain of events started with a robbery in East Haven of the the Dollar Tree store at 32 Frontage Rd. Police said two employees were ordered both employees to the ground by a suspect who said he had a gun.  The suspect took the cash register drawer, and took off in a Pontiac van which had just been stolen out of West Haven.

Around 10 p.m., North Haven police spotted the van on Maple Avenue and attempted to stop it. After a brief chase, the van crashed into a snow bank and the suspect ran off.

Police said the suspect forced himself into a home on Laydon Avenue, and demanded car keys from the homeowner. The homeowner gave the suspect a set of keys. Police said the suspect was unable to take the car because he had the wrong set of keys. When he ran off he was apprehended by officers shortly afterward.

Anderson was charged by North Haven Police with home invasion, burglary, reckless endangerment, interfering with police, criminal mischief, larceny, larceny, criminal attempt to commit larceny, engaging in pursuit and other motor vehicle charges.

Anderson was held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court Friday.
