MERIDEN–A community gathered together on Monday night to remember a special member who was lost too soon.

Stefan Ankle, 19, died of leukemia last night after battling the disease for months. The former Wilcox Technical High School valedictorian was also the captain of the robotics club which won the second highest award at competition this weekend. The team learned of their leader’s death just one hour after getting the trophy.

In the past Ankle co-hosted a radio show on WMRQ-FM, and this morning the show’s host, David Fisch, wrote about the teen on the station’s Facebook page, saying it was “an honor to share a mic and friendship” with him.

Friends and family gathered on Monday to remember all that he was and what he accomplished.
