ENFIELD — A newly unsealed warrant revealed how Dr. Rashimi Patel ignored warning signs while he had a patient under sedation.

Judith Gan of Ellington went to the dentist to have teeth pulled but the 64-year-old didn’t make it out alive.

A dental assistant that worked for Patel for seven years told investigators he asked assistants to perform illegal procedures.

In the affidavit, the person said he demanded staff worker fudge documents for services never rendered.

As for the day Gan died, two assistants worked with Dr. Patel. They told investigators the patient was turning blue and her oxygen levels were dropping to alarming rates. Both employees say they asked Patel to stop the procedure and call 9-1-1. They told investigators he dismissed the idea.  The dental assistants also went on record saying the Enfield doctor asked them to rewrite the dosage of medication given to Gan.

Patel is charged with criminally negligent homicide and tampering with physical evidence.

His license has been suspended and he is not allowed to ever treat a patient under sedation again.
