BOSTON (AP) — A business group seeking to build a casino on the New Bedford, Massachusetts, waterfront has an agreement for Connecticut-based Foxwoods Resort Casino to operate it, but the project faces hurdles.
New York-based development firm KG Urban Enterprises says it has a commitment from Foxwoods as an operator but is unsure whether it can reach a deal with New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell.
Mitchell tells The Boston Globe discussions about “whether a casino makes sense at the proposed site” are taking place.
Foxwoods and the state Gaming Commission haven’t returned messages left Thursday seeking comment.
