FAIRFIELD--The Fairfield Fire Department is releasing an important public service announcement on clearing fire hydrants, but the story behind the video is just as important.

A middle school girl, who is the daughter of an assistant fire chief in the department, created the PSA on her own for public consumption.

The message is how important every second is in an emergency, which is why it's necessary for homeowners to shovel the area around fire hydrants after a snowfall.

Assistant Chief Christopher Tracy, who is not the girl's father, said the PSA "sends a critical life saving message to all."
