WINDSOR LOCKS - 17 year-old "Cassandra C," as she's named in court papers, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma last year.
After the Windsor Locks teen sought a second opinion and rejected chemotherapy, the Department of Children and Families stepped in, forcing her to undergo treatments.
Cassandra and her mother fought the state, ending up in Supreme Court where Justices rules that she was not "legally competent or mature enough" to reject treatment.
The decision kept her in the hospital, receiving forced chemo.
The teen now tells Fox CT that there are no signs of active cancer cells in her "pet-scans", meaning her cancer is in remission.
