NEW HAVEN--You've heard his tunes and you've been cheering him on on TV, but today the excitement surrounding Nick Fradiani returned home.

More than 500 students at the Nathan Hale School in New Haven were treated to "Fradiani Frenzi," an ice cream produced in honor of the singer by Guildford's Bishop's Orchards Farm.

Fradiani's mom, Elizabeth, works at the school as a literacy tutor, and her colleagues wanted to help cheer on Nick.

"You know, it's great for the kids to see that someone in their back yard is making it to the top and for them it sets and example of saying, 'you know what? I can achieve anything if I work really hard at something. I can reach for the stars and become a star,'" said Danielle Santagata, a second-grade grade teacher.

Bishop's Orchards donated the ice cream to the school.

Tune in to Fox CT on Thursday at 8 p.m. for a two-hour special of "American Idol" to see if Nick makes it to the next round.
