MANSFIELD – Two Lifestar helicopters were sent to transport patients after a serious crash Monday morning. We’ve now learned both of those victims died.

Police reported a 2008 Volvo S60 and a garbage truck from Willimantic Waste Paper Co. collided at Route 195 and Frontage Road, just south of East Brook Mall, around 10:30 Monday morning.

Jerrilynn Robbins, 48, of Ashford, was driving the garbage truck south on Storrs Road when she slowed down to make a right onto North Frontage Road. The Volvo, which was driven by Thomas Ryan, 79, of Willington, rear-ended the truck for unknown reasons.

Robbins did not have any apparent injuries, but Thomas Ryan and his passenger, Arlene Ryan, 79, who lived at the same address as Thomas Ryan and was presumably his wife, both died in the accident.
