ALBANY, N.Y. — UConn’s Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis broke the NCAA Division I record for career 3-pointers during the Huskies’ 91-70 regional final win over Dayton on Monday.

The senior guard scored 27 points on Monday to help the Huskies beat Dayton 91-70. The team now advances to the Final Four for an eighth straight season.

Mosqueda-Lewis came into the game with 388 total 3-pointers, but made five of her first seven attempts from behind the arc to set the mark with 393. She added two more and now has 395 for her career. She made seven 3-pointers on 10 attempts and had a team-high 27 points against the Flyers.

Trailing at the half for the first time in two seasons, UConn scored the first nine points of the second half during a 15-3 run to take a 58-47 lead with 13:56 left.

A little more than a minute later, Mosqueda-Lewis hit her fifth 3-pointer of the game giving her 393 in her career to break the NCAA record for 3s. That made it 62-49 with 12:32 left in the game.

The former record of 392 had been held jointly by Laurie Koehn of Kansas State, who set the mark in 2005, and Heather Butler of Tennessee-Martin, who tied it last season.

But back to the game, Dayton couldn’t get within seven the rest of the way.

The Huskies won 91-70, and will now play the winner of the Maryland-Tennessee game on Sunday night.

Also on Monday, the finalists for the women’s John R. Wooden Award–which names the nation’s top college basketball player–were announced. Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart made it to the 10 finalists. The winner will be announced on April 10.
