HARTFORD — A former Connecticut state trooper accused of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman has pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree sexual assault.

The Hartford Courant reports 43-year-old Jeffrey LaPorto entered the plea Tuesday in a deal with prosecutors. He had been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint. He is expected to be sentenced June 29 to 10 years in prison, suspended after two years.

LaPorto’s attorney says any sexual contact was consensual.

LaPorto was arrested in 2014 after the woman’s son told police his mother had been sexually assaulted. She told police she and LaPorto met in the bar of her Windsor Locks hotel and talked and drank for hours before going to her room. She said she didn’t consent to sex.
