According to Bridgeport Police, officers discovered the remains while investigating the disappearance of 57-year-old Minnie Lincoln, of Bridgeport, who has been missing since March 31. Lincoln was last seen the night of March 27, leaving the Old Timers Club on Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport. Police said she was last seen with the owner of the building, 36-year-old Marcus Jackson.
Bridgeport and Stratford Police, along with Connecticut State Police and the FBI, interviewed witnesses and reviewed hours of surveillance footage in the case. They said the information they gathered led them to Watson Boulevard on Monday, where remains were discovered.
Investigators then went to the Stratford home of Marcus Jackson, the main person of interest, to interview him for a second time. Jackson had been interviewed last Thursday but missed a follow-up interview. When officers knocked on his door, they heard a gunshot. Jackson had taken his own life, police said.
In a statement, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said, “This is a horrible episode and our thoughts go out to the communities in Bridgeport and Stratford. Police have worked tirelessly trying to find and bring Minnie home. But, there is information we do not yet know. Detectives are continuing to search for those answers.”
Police are expected to continue processing the crime scene on Tuesday.
