STRATFORD – A Bridgeport man is dead and a Transportation Department worker is injured after two serious car crashes on the Merritt Parkway early this morning.
Police say the first crash happened just before 2 this morning in South Stratford on Route 15.
Two cars traveling southbound got into an accident resulting in the closure of the southbound side of the parkway.
One of the drivers, 27 year old Jesus Rivera, died a short time later as a result of that accident.
And just before 4 this morning, another driver crashed into a DOT truck that was parked on the scene of the first accident in the southbound lane, hitting a worker who was laying down cones and flares. The DOT worker and driver are expected to be OK.
Police are still investigated both accidents.
