Carlos Hernandez, 8, was walking home from the park in East Hartford on April 16 when he was hit by a car in the area of 285 Burnside Ave.
On Wednesday we learned that one of the suspects who was arrested in connection the accident was East Hartford resident Hawa Pabai, 30, and police now say that she did leave the scene of the accident. She was arrested on the day of the accident and charged with evading responsibility in a crash that resulted in a death and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Pabai appeared in court on Monday, May 4, at which point bond was set at $5,000. She is next due in court on June 1.
This was not the first fatal accident on that street. In 2011, two bicyclists were killed in crashes just months apart.
Fox CT has heard rumblings of a petition to add a stop light or speed bumps in the area.
