DANBURY–The family of the Connecticut resident who died on the fatal train crash on Metro-North earlier this year is suing the railroad, among others.
On February 3 Aditya Tomar, 41, was killed while taking the train home from work in New York. The train he was on crashed into an SUV that was stuck on the track while in Valhalla, New York, killing the driver of that trian, Tomar, and four others.
The Danbury resident was born in India and moved to the U.S. to pursue his education and a career in the financial industry. He was a vice president at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
On May 1 his wife, Reshma Persaud, filed a claim against Metro-North Railroad, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state of New York, the county of Westchester and the town of Mt. Pleasant.
The suit claims wrongful death, ante-mortem pain and suffering both mentally and physically, medical expenses, funeral expenses, loss of earnings, loss of support, voluntary assistance and possible inheritance, loss of consortium and alike
injuries: wrongful death by a series of injuries, including blunt force trauma with fractures of skull, ribs and extremities; lacerations of brain, heart and lungs; burns on body; loss of life; and ante-mortem pain and suffering mentally and physically. It also claims on behalf of his beneficiary, his wife, loss of earnings; pecuniary injuries, including loss of income, support, voluntary assistance, possible inheritance, companionship, society, affection; medical expenses; and funeral expenses.
The suit requests $25 million.
