A Connecticut veteran from the Korean War was finally honored for his service on Thursday, more than 60 years after the war ended.

Corporal David Carello, of Bristol, was overseas with General Douglas MacArthur from 1950 to 1951, but it took current Connecticut Rep. John Larson getting involved for his family to have success in getting Carello the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal, all of which he earned.

"The greatest privilege for a member of Congress is to make sure that a veteran who served this country with distinction, gets the medals they originally deserve," Larson said.
