Jayshon Bryant was 18 when he was shot and killed by Hartford Detective Robert Lawlor on May 7, 2005. His friend Brandon Henry was also injured that day.
Lawlor claimed that Bryant and Henry had guns and that he was acting in self defense, but an investigation revealed that they didn’t have weapons and that the detective was unjustified in using deadly force.
Lawlor was charged with manslaughter and assault, but he was acquitted.
