Woman arrested in connection with New Britain murder

NEW BRITAIN – Police arrested a Springfield, MA woman in connection with the December murder of a Meriden man.

Idaliz Zavala-Burgos, 34 of Springfield, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. She is being held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain court on Thursday.

Police said they took Zavala-Burgos into custody in Springfield on Tuesday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals.

Jesus Silva was shot and killed December 30, 2014 near the intersection of Yeaton Street and Farmington Avenue. Silva, 24, of Meriden, was found in a car and pronounced dead at the scene.

joel jaquezJoel Jaquez, 31, was arrested Monday and charged in Silva’s death. At the time of his arrest, Jaquez was already in New Britain Police custody as a Fugitive from Justice out of the State of Florida.

Jaquez is being held on two million dollars bond. The bail bondsman says Jaquez is a multi-state offender with charges in Florida, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and possibly Las Vegas.

He is due back in court May 18.
