NEW BRITAIN — New Britain police are planning a news conference Monday for what they are calling a major update in the investigation of human remains found last month where partial remains of three women were found eight years ago.

Police said Sunday they will release “significant new information.”

Police found more skeletal remains April 28 behind a Hartford Road shopping center. In 2007, the partial remains of 53-year-old Diane Cusack, 23-year-old Joyvaline Martinez and 40-year-old Mary Jane Menard were discovered there. A police task force returned last month with cadaver dog and a forensic anthropologist.

It’s not clear if the newly discovered bones belonged to any of the three women. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office has been testing the remains.

Police believe one person killed all three women in 2003. There’s a $150,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
