HOLLYWOOD -- He did it!

After thousands of people across the country auditioned, we have America's next "Idol." Guilford's Nick Fradiani was officially crowned the star of season 14 of the show.

As a shower of confetti fell on Nick he sang, he cried, he shook Keith Urban's hand, and walked off stage to hug his dad and family in celebration. He couldn't even finish his song because he was so overcome with emotion.

At 29 Nick was the oldest contestant on the season, and this was his last chance to try out. Before he heard the news he told Fox CT that the experience has been "life-changing," regardless of what the outcome would be. But we're sure it's much more life-changing now that he's the winner.

After the concert and episode ended, Fox CT's Lauren Victory snagged an interview with Nick's mentor on "American Idol," Scott Borchetta, who was thrilled with how he did.

The season 14 finale show, which left viewers in suspense for two hours before it was announced if Nick or Clark Beckham won, was full of celebrity performances. Fall Out Boy kicked things off with of course Nick and Clark performing along side them.

As the show went on, Ryan Seacrest asked Nick and Clark to name their mentors. Nick talked about his mentor, friend, and bandmate Nick Abraham. Then, he was able to surprise him with a new car! Nick, Clark, and Clark's mentor all were given brand new cars from Ford.

New Kids On The Block, Ricky Martin, the remaining members of The Jackson Five, Steven Tyler, Chris Brown, and Pitbull all took the stage.

Later in the show, Nick performed with Andy Grammer and Clark performed with Michael McDonald.
