Driver, passenger in serious condition after car crashes into Wethersfield house

WETHERSFIELD – Police Wednesday responded to a report of a car accident at the intersection of Maple Street and Prospect Street.

First responders arrived on-scene around noon to find a car at rest against a house on Maple Street after having crashed into it.

Personnel at the scene immediately began treating the two occupants of the car, who were suffering from serious injuries. Both were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The house sustained significant structural damage and was being evaluated by the town’s building inspector.

Route 3 traffic was diverted until 2:30 p.m. between Mill Street and the Silas Deane Highway, while the on-scene investigation took place. The accident remains under investigation.
