Dad Charged With Hosting Party That Preceded Fatal Crash

HARTFORD — A judge has acquitted a man of charges he let teenagers drink alcohol at a 2013 party, leading to a high school student’s death in a car crash.

The Hartford Courant reports a Superior Court judge found Wednesday prosecutors failed to prove charges of reckless endangerment and permitting minors to possess liquor against Paul Sibiga. They alleged that he knew his teenage sons hosted a party involving alcohol with over two dozen teenage friends.

Police said the crash happened after the driver, Connor McKee, left a party in woods Sibiga owns in Marlborough. McKee lost control of his car and went off the road near Hebron. Paige Houston, a passenger, was killed.

Police said McKee had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent. He pleaded guilty last year to second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle.

Prosecutors say an investigation uncovered several alcohol-fueled teen parties on Sibiga’s property.
