HARTFORD – More than half of state residents polled disapprove of Governor Dan Malloy’s job performance in a new poll released Wednesday.

The poll by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research was conducted May 18 to May 20 by calling 625 voters registered in the state on both land lines and cell phones.

The poll found 52% of those surveyed found Malloy’s performance lacking.  While 87% of registered Republicans disapproved of his performance, 51% of non-affiliated voters and 33% of his Democratic base expressing their disapproval according to Mason-Dixon.

The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Malloy was elected to his second term in November with 50.7 % of the vote against Tom Foley who received 48.2% of the vote.
