MILFORD–Local police have taken custody of a stabbing suspect who was arrested in Pennsylvania last month after fleeing the state.

On Tuesday, Milford Police took custody of Armado Rodriguez, who is accused of injuring his ex-wife and an elderly man in her care.

On April 19, Milford Police responded to reports of a stabbing on Washington Street. They found a woman with a serious cut to her neck and an elderly man with a head injury and a cut to his neck.

Police said at the time that Rodriguez entered the home and cut the woman’s throat while she was sleeping. Police said he then assaulted the elderly man.

The woman is employed as the live-in care taker for the elderly victim. Rodriguez is the estranged husband of the woman. Police believe he drove away from the scene stealing the male victim’s car.

Rodriguez was arrested on April 28 in Philadelphia. Milford Police, the FBI and Philadelphia Highway Control worked together and found him sitting on a bench, and he brandished a box cutter at them when they tried to take him into custody. No one was hurt.

He was charged with assault in the first degree, assault in the first degree on an elderly person, home invasion, burglary in the first degree, larceny in the second degree and criminal violation of a restraining order. He is being held on $500,000 bond and will be extradited to Connecticut.
