Dobson Road in Vernon reopens after pedestrian struck by SUV

VERNON – A pedestrian was struck by a car and suffered serious injuries just before noon Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident on Route 30, at the intersection with Dobson Road.

Police say an SUV struck a pedestrian, who has been identified as Richard Blake, 77, of Vernon. Blake was crossing Route 30 in the crosswalk when he was hit, and he suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital and is guarded condition, which means he’s between stable and critical condition.

The road was closed for several hours as police investigated. As of now, no charges have been field.
