HARTFORD–It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the International Space Station!

For just six minutes on Wednesday night the ISS will be visible from anywhere in Connecticut.

Stating at 8:55 p.m., the space station will rise from the southwest direction. It will peak at 88 degrees, just shy of right above your head, and will then set in the northeast sky. This is the best chance you’ll have to see the space station for a while, as it will be almost directly straight up in the sky.

The event will almost look like a shooting star, so don’t miss it! Binoculars are recommended, but the naked eye will be able to detect the football field-sized craft.

The sky is supposed to be mostly clear, with some high thin clouds possible. Also, you will have the best chance at spotting the ISS if you stand away from trees.

Good luck!
