BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in Long Island Sound.
City spokesman Tim Hammell tells the Connecticut Post that a boater discovered the body about 5 miles south of Bridgeport Harbor.
The Bridgeport Police Marine Unit pulled the woman from the water at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say she appears to have been in her 20s or 30s and was 5-foot-3 with dark hair. She was wearing a gray and black striped sweatshirt and black stretch pants.
Police say they have no reports of any accidents in the area or anyone reported missing on the water.
