NEW HAVEN– Two people were hit by a car while waiting for help with their burning vehicle on I-95.

Acoording to police, around 10:20 p.m. Thursday,  Emma Carmichael, 26 of Brattleboro Vermont and Molly Johnsen, 27 of Kingston Rhode Island, were standing outside their vehicle in the right lane, which had caught fire on the right lane on the Q Bridge. Another driver stopped behind the burning car to assist, and had their hazard lights on.

A third vehicle driven by Jack Tiernan, 19, of Branford, struck the second vehicle from behind. The crash pushed the second vehicle into the jersey barrier and pinned Carmichael and Johnsen against the wall.  They were taken to Yale Hew Haven Hospital with serious injuries.
