Amazon fulfillment distribution center

WINDSOR–Amid all the drama surrounding major corporations threatening to leave the state due to the recently-passed budget, there is a silver lining.

Amazon recently announced that it is opening a distribution center in Windsor, one of many it’s opening across the country to get products to customers faster, and now the mega-online retailer is accepting job applications.

About 500 full-time jobs are available at the new 1 million-square-foot warehouse off of Day Hill Road. The location is expected to be up and running by late September of this year.

“Initially, it’s in excess of 250 growing to about 500 jobs,” Gov. Dan Malloy said. He also said he hopes this is a catalyst for others to follow: “We are also having conversations with other companies about other customer fulfillment centers coming to Connecticut.”

This is the first Amazon full-line fulfillment center to be opened in New England.
