MIDDLETOWN--There was a bit of a traffic jam in Middletown Wednesday evening, but it was for a good cause. The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce held the 18th annual Cruise Night on Main.

"We're expecting over a thousand cars here  tonight, probably seven, or eight thousand people, it's early and we're packed," said Larry McHugh, the  Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce president. "It's an annual event we run, a car cruise, get people to enjoy downtown Middletown. We've got cars, we've got music, we've got food, we've got thousands of people happy."

McHugh said the money raised at the event goes back into the community.

"It helps our mentor program, we have about 90 kids we put to work during the summer, through different grants," said McHugh. "These are great kids, we've got great opportunity for the kids, so this is one of the programs that is so important to that."

Cars of all kinds lined Main Street for several blocks. There were old Fords and GTOs, vintage trucks, even a Ferrari. Mike Dahlke brought his classic Chevy from Montville.

"This is a big event here, huge, lot of cars," said Dahlke. "It's a great hobby, it's a family thing, too.  You see people with their kids, and their dogs, it's a nice thing."

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce will hold it's 10th annual Motorcycle Mania, on Wednesday, August 12.
