Police alert residents after Naugatuck bear sighting

NAUGATUCK – Police are warning residents on west side of town, after a bear was seen Wednesday morning in the area of Birch Lane.

Officers responded to that area in an attempt to locate and track the animal and saw it enter a wooded area near Deepwood Road.

Police are telling residents in that neighborhood to be aware of the roaming bear and to take precautions, such as making certain pets are indoors, close doors and to not attempt to approach the animal.

Residents are asked to contact police with information if they see the bear, so that they can continue to update the public of the bear’s most recent whereabouts.
