HARTFORD – Another Connecticut company sent a strongly worded letter to Governor Dannel P. Malloy about the recently passed budget.

Stanley Black and Decker, headquartered in New Britain, wrote the letter to the Governor on June 9, stating that Connecticut already has an inhospitable environment for manufacturing jobs.

The letter stated in part: “these changes will make it difficult if not impossible for our leadership to responsibly undertake any growth or expansion opportunities in the state of Connecticut… and may further force us to consider relocating our headquarters to another state.”

The letter was sent before Governor Malloy called on lawmakers to roll back more than $200 million in business tax hikes.

House Democrats are scheduled to meet behind closed doors on the budget Tuesday, before the special session with the full legislature at the end of the month.

Lawmakers met Friday with the Democratic governor and Malloy wants to make more spending cuts to cover the difference or have lawmakers make the reductions.

House Speaker Brendan Sharkey says lawmakers have their own ideas and no final decisions have been made.
