BRISTOL–Police have made an arrest after an incident that could have ended much worse.

On June 21 at 1:52 p.m. Bristol Police responded to reports that a car had crashed into the Club Fitness located at 400 Middle St.

When police arrived they found the car smashed into the building, and the operator had gotten out of his car and was causing a disturbance and acting irrationally.

Lemar Ranger, 29, of Shelton, was taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree and breach of peace in the second degree. He was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

No one was injured, but the gym did sustain about $15,000 worth of damage to the equipment and building. Among the items damaged were computers, displays, mirrors, lighting and food products.

Ranger was held on a $5,000 and is due in court on June 24.
