FALL RIVER, Mass.–On Friday the men who have been charged as Aaron Hernandez’s accomplices in the murder of Odin Llyod appeared in court.
Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz are both charged with murder and as accessories after the fact in connection to Lloyd’s death and the cover-up that followed.
Both men have been in custody since their arrest in 2013 and have pleaded not guilty, but this is the first appearance they’ve made in court since Hernandez was convicted for Lloyd’s murder.
The hearing on Friday was to determine when each man’s trial will begin. Wallace’s attorneys requested a February 2016 start date, while Ortiz’s attorney asked for a date in mid-May. The judge said she will confirm if those dates work.
Hernandez was convicted of murder in April and sentenced to life in prison without parole. He is also due to stand trial for a 2012 double-murder in Boston beginning in December.
