HARTFORD — A man will face a judge Monday after he was arrested in connection with a Saturday afternoon quadruple shooting at a youth basketball tournament.

Roosevelt Holmes, 23, a convicted felon from Windsor, is facing multiple charges including Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Attempt/Assault First Degree, Reckless Endangerment First Degree, Discharge of a Firearm. Police said they may charge him with additional charges in the future.

On Saturday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Hartford police received multiple 911 calls about shots fired at the city heat basketball tournament– happening outdoors at the Sarah Rawson School on Holcomb Street.

Four people were shot and a 41-year-old man died.

James Headen, of Hartford, was fatally shot in the head.

The other three victims each suffer from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Justin Jones, 23, of Hartford, was shot in the hip. Jones is now in stable condition in the hospital. Shawn Patterson, 24, of Hartford, was shot in the hand. Patterson was treated and released from the hospital. Holmes was shot in the calf area and was treated and released into police custody.

Holmes, who was not a participant in the tournament, got into a fight while the game was taking place, which escalated into the shots being fired, Police said. Police say it’s unclear whom the fight was with. Headen, who was killed, was an innocent bystander, police said.
