NEW YORK–An Amber Alert was canceled just 45 minutes after it was issued when a 3-year-old girl went missing.

Police said that a white girl, who is believed to have Down syndrome, was taken at around noon from 345 E. 102nd St., which is in the East Harlem neighborhood. She was found safe around 3:15 p.m. in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

The suspect is believed to be Patrick Giblin, who is described as a white man, about 50 years old, with short brown hair and green eyes. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt and jeans with a camouflage hat.

PIX11 says Giblin is in custody.

Police described the vehicle that Giblin fled as a black SUV Dodge Durango with New York license plates with the plate number GDE4791, and they initially said he was last seen traveling east on the Brooklyn Bridge.

It’s unclear where the child was found, and if she was in Giblin’s custody.

The suspect, who is said to be suicidal and suffers from PTSD, is said to have left a mental health facility with the girl, who has not yet been identified.
