MILFORD–If you have a pet, make sure that you are all up-to-date on paperwork.

The city of Milford Animal Control Division will be going to each home in the city, starting on July 9, to ensure all cats and dogs 6 months and older are registered and that owners have the required licenses for their pets.

If your dog isn’t licensed, you will be fined $75 per pet. Licenses are available at the city of Milford’s clerk’s office, which is located at 70 West River St. in the Parsons Building. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can contact the office at 203-783-3210

Also, officers will be ensuring that all pets over the age of 3 months have had a rabies vaccination. Pets need an annual rabies shot before June 30 of each year. Any owner whose pet hasn’t been vaccinated will be charged $136 per animal.
