HARTFORD–If you’re looking for something fun–and free!–to do this weekend with your family, Bank of America is looking to help.

The bank is holding a “museums on us” event, which means that any Bank of America or Merrill Lynch debit or credit cardholder can visit select museums for free this Independence Day weekend, and for many more this year. Instead of just offering the deal on July 4 and 5, the bank announced that the first full weekend of each month will be a “museums on us” weekend.

In all, 150 museums across 32 states are participating.

In Connecticut, you can visit the following museums for free this weekend:

  • Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art
  • Bruce Museum
  • Fairfield Museum and History Center
  • Hill-Stead Museum
  • Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
  • Mattatuck Museum
  • New Britain Museum of American Art

Just present your Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card, along with a photo ID, to get free entrance to any of the participating museums.

The deal only applies to cardholders, not their guests.

Other popular Northeast museums participating include the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of African American History in Boston; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan in New York; the Newseum in Washington; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
