WATERBURY — A Waterbury priest who once ran the St. Francis Home for Children in New Haven has been suspended on accusations he sexually abused a minor at the school.

The New Haven Register reports that the Archdiocese of Hartford says in a statement it learned that the Rev. Jeremiah N. Murasso was accused of sexual abuse of a minor and that he had been placed on administrative leave until the allegation is resolved.

The state Judicial Branch website reports no criminal charges.

Since 2012, Murasso had been pastor of two Waterbury parishes, Blessed Sacrament and the Shrine of St. Anne. Murasso also has served parishes in Meriden, Naugatuck and South Windsor.

The St. Francis Home for Children closed in 2012.

Murasso, who headed the home from 1992 to 1995, could not be located Friday morning.
