EASTFORD – Police said a crash involving three motorcycles on Route 44 in Eastford just after noon on Sunday proved fatal for one driver.
State police said that two Harley-Davidson motorcycles were traveling westbound along Route 44 approaching Route 198 in Eastford when one of them collided with another motorcycle, a Yamaha, coming from the opposite direction.
That first crash caused the other Harley-Davidson to also crash. All three drivers were ejected from their bikes as a result.
The driver of the first Harley involved, Kenneth F. Oliva, 68, of Norwood, Mass. was taken to Hartford Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The other 2 drivers, Philip McManus, 66, of Norwood, Mass. and Nicholas A. Romitti, 26, of Vernon, were both taken to UMass Hospital.
The accident is still under investigation.
