One arrested in shooting outside Willimantic bar

Police instigating on the scene of the shooting in Willimantic

WILLIMANTIC — A man is under arrest in connection with a shooting new a bar in Willimanic early Sunday morning.

Police arrived at Tony’s Pub on Main Street around 2 a.m. Sunday after 9-1-1 calls about a shooting.

Police said no one was hit by any bullets.

They saw a man with a gun on Brook Street, which is next to the pub. When police approached the man, he ran and discarded the handgun during the chase.

Montreece Prather, 26, of Willimanic

Police eventually caught up with Montreece Prather, 26, of Willimanic, and arrested him.

Prather faces charges including breach of peace, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit, interfering with police and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He is being held on a $200,00 bond and is due back in court on July 22.
